The Advance has received confirmation that Richard Stuart Jr., King George County’s community development director, has resigned from his position.

“Mr. Richard Stuart, Jr. has resigned as community development director. His last day will be on Wednesday, May 22,” spokeswoman Amy Southall wrote in an email Friday morning.

Stuart is the son of Richard Stuart Sr., a state senator who has also been serving as the interim county attorney since January.

This resignation is the latest in a string of departures that started in January with the resignation of the county administrator and county attorney. Since then, the deputy county administrator, assistant county attorney, human resources director, finance director, and director of economic development and tourism have resigned, among other county and fire and rescue personnel.
