Here’s a look at some of the local projects it’s funded.

Two years ago, President Joe Biden signed the Bipartisan Infrastructure and Jobs Act, a historic investment in the country’s roads, bridges, rails, ports and more.
Virginia so far has received $8.4 billion in funding through the Act for more than 247 separate projects, Senators Tim Kaine and Mark Warner said in a statement released Wednesday.
Here’s a look at some of the projects the infrastructure bill is funding in Fredericksburg, Stafford and Spotsylvania. More information is at this dashboard.
Fredericksburg
Intersection improvements at U.S. 1 and Augustine Avenue – $597,050
Intersection improvements at U.S. 1 and Fall Hill Avenue – $216,402
Design and build of new Interstate 95 southbound Rappahannock River crossing – $4.1 million
Engineering to establish a sidewalk and two new bus stops on the east side of Lafayette Boulevard – $1.1 million
Comprehensive safety action plan to reduce traffic fatalities in Planning District 16 (Fredericksburg, Stafford, Spotsylvania, Caroline and King George) – $96,000
Stafford
Stafford Regional Airport improvements – $159,000 in fiscal year 2022 (which ended June 30, 2022) and $145,000 in fiscal year 2023 (which ended June 30, 2023)
Bridge replacement at U.S. 1 over Chopawamsic Creek – $939,917
CSX rail bridge rehabilitation – $2.7 million
Bridge maintenance districtwide – $5.3 million
Congestion mitigation and air quality improvement study at U.S. 1 and Enon Road – $320,000
Bridge replacement at U.S. 1 over Potomac Creek – $2.1 million
Spotsylvania
Widening and improvements at Interstate 95 Exit 126 – $8.5 million
Engineering design for intersection improvements and revitalization at Four Mile Fork, including new sidewalks and “streetscape improvements” – $800,000
Intersection improvements at Harrison Road and Salem Church Road – $656,000
Improvements on U.S. 1 from I-95 Exit 126 to Lafayette Blvd., including traffic operational improvements at three intersections, new bus transit service with connections to the region’s Amtrak station and the county’s main bus transfer station, and sidewalk and streetscape improvements – $3 million
