Stafford School Board Selects Superintendent Search Firm

- June 27, 2024

Board is seeking a replacement for Thomas Taylor, who is leaving the division to lead Montgomery County schools.

The Stafford School Board on Tuesday approved a $40,000 contract with the firm JG Consulting to lead the search for a new division leader.

“Selection of the best Superintendent candidate for their school division is the single most important decision a School Board makes,” said Maureen Siegmund, School Board Chair, in a press release issued by the school division.

The search firm and the School Board plan to schedule opportunities later this summer for the community to provide input into desired qualities for a leader to replace Thomas Taylor, whose resignation is effective July 1.

“We will rely heavily on the information gleaned from our upcoming community engagement sessions, while calling on our vision for the future of Stafford Schools in order to select the next leader of Stafford Schools,” Siegmund said.

The School Board is searching for a new superintendent at the same time the Board of Supervisors is searching for a new county administrator.

Supervisors cancelled a meeting of the Joint Schools Working Committee that was scheduled for Thursday afternoon in order to work on the recruitment of the County Administrator.
