Monday Evening Storm Causes Power Outages

Thousands lost power in Spotsylvania.

A thunderstorm that came through the area shortly before 6 p.m. on Monday evening left thousands of households in Spotsylvania without power.

According to Dominion Energy’s outage map, about 2,746 customers in the Salem Fields area of Spotsylvania, along Gordon Road, had lost power as of 8:15 p.m.

Power would be restored between 8 and 11 p.m. Monday night, Dominion estimated.

Rappahannock Electric Cooperative’s outage map showed 803 members in Spotsylvania were without power as of 8:15 p.m. Monday. The outages are concentrated in Lake Wilderness and power was estimated to be restored around midnight.

Temperatures are forecast to reach a high of 102 degrees on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
