Kids’ Station, the KinderCare-operated daycare and preschool on the campus of Mary Washington Healthcare, will remain open, according to an email that was sent to families Wednesday afternoon.
“We are pleased to share that after additional consideration, MWHC extended the current location lease,” the email states. “Kids’ Station will remain at its current location until a new home can be found.”
The center announced last week that it would close at the end of May. According to MWHC leadership, the healthcare system and KinderCare had an agreement that the center would move to a new location by September of 2024.
Today’s email states that MWHC and KinderCare will “work together to find a new, permanent location for the center near Mary Washington Hospital.”
The email includes an apology from both organizations.
“We realize last week’s announcement about the center closing caused anxiety. For that, all of us at Mary Washington Healthcare and KinderCare are sorry.”
