The FXBG Advance has just learned that current Spotsylvania School Board member Dawn Shelley is launching a write-in campaign to unseat Phillip Scott, who until today was running unopposed to keep his seat in the General Assembly representing House District 63.

Shelley tells the Advance:

After an outpouring of calls from citizens, I have decided to run as a write-in candidate against Phillip Scott to lessen the partisanship in the Virginia House of Delegates.

Shelley lives in Spotsylvania and has spent her career as an educator.

Elected to the Spotsylvania County School Board in November 2011, she served as the Board Chair in 2015 and 2021, and Vice Chair in 2017, 2018, and 2020.
