Clint Mitchell steps into the job August 1.
Incoming Spotsylvania school division superintendent Clint Mitchell will be paid $245,000 per year, according to his contract with the School Board, which went into effect June 24.
The salary is the same as that made by his predecessor, Mark Taylor, who was fired in March.
Mitchell’s contract is for three years, starting August 1, 2024, and ending June 30, 2027. Any adjustments to his salary will be made in writing as an addendum to the initial contract.
If he is terminated by the Board without cause, he will receive his full salary for either one year from the effective date of termination or until his contract expires, “whichever period is shorter.”
Taylor’s contract, which was signed in September of 2022, would have paid him his full salary through June of 2026 if he had been terminated without cause.
If Mitchell is terminated with cause or voluntarily resigns, compensation will cease immediately.
He must give the School Board written notice of his intent to resign 90 days before it goes into effect.
