New Dominion Podcast

- November 22, 2023

We’re already into the next election cycle, but we lay politics aside (mostly) to reflect on a day of thanks. Also in this issue – Holiday small business highlights start Friday.

New Dominion Podcast

Cori Blanch joins Marty & Shaun as we reflect on why Thanksgiving is the quintessential American holiday. Also — why cranberry sauce is gross, ham should be served, the awesomeness of kibbe naya, how no one actually eats the fruitcake, and the tremendous memories we have with our families over food.

Shining the Light on Businesses at Christmas

Beginning Friday, FXBG Advance will be daily highlighting local, small businesses in our readership area. We’ve already got several stories lined up, but have plenty of room to include your store.

If you’re a local business owner and want to highlight your products for local holiday shoppers, please contact Adele Uphaus ([email protected]) or Martin Davis ([email protected]), and let us know that you’d like to be profiled.

The first story drops Friday. We’ll be highlighting Wren & Sparrow, a bird store with a very human touch.

Giving Tuesday is Next Week

This Year – Remember FXBG Advance

The FXBG Advance is filling a critical void in our community – and we are doing so because of your support. Over the past year, we have moved from a simple blog to a full-blown news service because our readers have made it possible for us to hire Adele Uphaus as managing editor, bring Vanessa Sekinger aboard as books and culture editor, and bring together an extraordinary range of talented guest writers.

This coming Tuesday, November 28, we’re asking you to help us take the Advance to an even higher level. Your contribution of $8 a month, $80 year, or $500 founding membership is critical to our hiring a new reporter dedicated to Stafford County.

News matters – and local news matters most of all.

Martin Davis, editor-in-chief
